JAGUAR X- WRITER/DIRECTOR/PRODUCER

An Atlanta, Georgia born poet, actor, and film director with three films to date: "The Dinner Party," shot in DUMBO with members of The American Theatre of Harlem in 2003; "La Cabra," made in Spanish Harlem, and admitted for competition to Slamdance 2005, receiving a Kodak materials grant; and the feature-length "The Myth of Time," filmed over 5 years exclusively in Guatemala. Mr.X received a B.A. from New York University in 2004 for individualized study, and has practiced theatre since an early age. He currently holds 4 screenplays for development in North and South America.

SCORPION HERNÁNDEZ- PRODUCER/ACTOR/EDITOR

Scorpion

Scorpion was born and raised in Guatemala, City Guatemala where he worked as an actor and a dancer for La Compañia Artistica Lenar for over 10 years, for El Ballet Folklorico Nacional de Guatemala, and El Ballet Folklorico del INGUAT. He is particularly recognized for his performances at the national theatre, Centro Cultural Miguel Angel Asturias. including "Leyendas de Guatemala" as a Chocanito storyteller, and "La Historia Se Repite" as Romeo, a reformed drug-addict. His mimetic character, Sonrisa, became the face of the Telgua ad campaign from 2006-8 for domestic phone service, as seen on EspectaculosMarcel.com.

STEVEN HUBER- CINEMATOGRAPHER

Steve

American director and cinematographer who studied film production at New York University and the Czech film school FAMU, where he garnered a Warner Bros. Picture Award. He shot his first 35mm feature when he was 21, "What Goes Around." Since, he has worked as cinematographer and director on many award winning films and music videos. Notably, "Madness and Genius," (Toronto 2003) and The Bravery’s "No Brakes," featured in American Cinematographer Magazine. Two of the songs he has shot videos for have reached the No.1 spot on the Billboard Charts, for artists Nadia Ali, and UltranatÈ.

CÉSAR GUTIÉRREZ MIRANDA- CINEMATOGRAPHER

Cesar

Director and cinematographer who received his degree and tenure in film production from Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematogr·ficos. CUEC- UNAM. Miranda has gained particular recognition for the short films "Punto de Fuga," "Rimel," and "Chimera," the latter responsible for his winning the Kodak Student Cinematographer's Award for Latin America at Cannes in 2006. Since, César has worked on the feature films "Espiral," premiering at Mexico's Morelia Film Festival in 2008, and "El Milagro del Papa," which will be hitting the festivals circuit for 2009-10.

JORGE DE LEON- ART DIRECTOR

Jorge

A tattoo artist by trade, he has worked as a muralist in dynamic creative projects in the Guatemala Interior and served as professor of fine art at university level and for children in marginal areas in the capital. For his artistic work he has won 3rd. Place in the “Subasta de Arte Juannio (2006), 2nd. Place in the “Bienal de Arte Paiz,” (2004, Guatemala) and “Jóvenes Creadores Bancafé” (2004, Guatemala). De Leon's art centers on urban violence in Guatemala City, influenced by his former involvement in gangs. After being stabbed and locked up in prison many times, he decided to go to art school. "My generation is growing up with a different war. Guatemala is a country where no one speaks the truth. I realized that in the gangs I was committing suicide slowly. I wanted to make a work of art to shock people and to make them see none of us are telling the truth. So I sewed my mouth shut," his comments and actions for a street art exhibit where De Leon literally sewed his lips together with tailor's thread.

LUIS JUÁREZ QUIXTÁN- COMPOSER

Luis

A Guatemalan classical guitarist and composer of original works whose themes often pertain to the individual's struggle for his soul between multiple worlds. His musical style is inspired by traditional indigenous arrangements with roots in Maya villages, combined with a mastery of the classical technique and improvisational fluency. Since 2004, Mr. Quixtán has received a series of grants to further his musical studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music The Hague, The National Conservatory of Music of Amsterdam, and the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris, France; awarded on behalf of the prestigious SOROS Foundation of Guatemala and The Mayan Educational Foundation. His teachers include the famed Spanish maestro Alberto Ponce, Narcis Bonet (former student of Nadia Boulanger), Jean Pasquet, and Eric Martinel. Juárez Quixtán's most notable performances were with French guitarist Philippe Loli in 2004 as first string in the Guitar Orchestra of Guatemala, and as a soloist in 2007 at the Arche de la Defense in Paris, France.  Of his original work for "The Myth of Time", he describes, "A chance where I achieved to exhibit and plasticize the true and unique landscape of Guatemala, introducing various forms of expression, from pastoral mysticism to urban sound images, all drawing a more detailed picture of my country."

ENRIQUE VALENCIA- THE DARK EYED ONE

Kike

An actor, born and raised in El Salvador received his B.A. in theatre from Universidad El Salvador in 1998. He is the leading male dramatic actor of Teatro Estudio San Salvador under the direction of Fernando Umaña, and has also been an active member in circus productions with the companies Cuarto Creciente and Alegrarte. As a member of TESS he has starred in San Mago by Giovanni Galeas, Goldini's Mirandolina, Moliere's The Doctor In Spite of Himself, and a theatrical rendition of the Maya Bible, Popol Vuh. Thus far he has participated in over 30 professional theatre productions, and is an expert in the art of capoiera, having earned his rank at Sinhsinho in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

DANIEL POSADA- THE DARK EYED ONE (YOUTH)

Danny

Raised in East New York, Danny brings an old charm to contemporary independent cinema. He has been intriguing short film audiences with his magic ability to captivate at all costs. He has appeared as the male lead in NYU Graduate thesis films, Boys in New York, and The Game; and in the independent short, Skips (Tribeca 2004) and La Cabra (Slamdance 2005). His commercial work includes a small role in Dickie Roberts with David Spade, and a featured role in Aaron Spelling’s CBS pilot Queens Supreme. Danny holds his own on camera, and is a vehicle of energy to all others working around him.

DAVID STERNE- VALENTINO

Sterne

Mr. Sterne began his theatre career with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has had lead roles at the London National Theatre, and is a current member of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. His foray into film began with 1977's Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger as Aboo Seer. In more recent years he has held character roles in The Wolf Man, Dorian Gray, Slaughter, and Pirates of the Caribbean II and III. Of the numerous parts he has played for the BBC, his most notable are Des Harvey on the long running favorite The Bill, and Sgt. Edward Macfadden on Holby Blue.

ROB MORGAN- DRAGON

Rob

Member of the American Theatre of Harlem, his motto is, “go hard, or go home.” From the streets of Washington, DC, the tobacco fields of North Carolina, and the canyons of Wall Street, Rob pulls cues from his wide-ranging life experiences to add color to his characters. Beginning in 2004 he has played regular leads in the critically acclaimed plays of Levy Lee Simon, Caseload, and The Bow Wow Club. Rob's work in electronic media stems back to his early days as a Radio DJ in Washington DC, and as an extra in Contact with Jodie Foster. Since he has starred in over 25 short and feature length films, including Pro-Black Sheep (2009), Conspiracy X (2009), Ghetto Fabulous (2005), Sorry Ain't Enough...Reparations (2003), and the award winning AFI short by Karammu Kush, The Bus Stop (2009). Outside of owning his own clothing line, iluvblackpeople.com, Mr. Morgan is a character player for The Black Op of Los Angeles.

ALICIA CHONG- PROSERPINA

Alicia

Voted best actress of El Salvador 2 years in a row by Teatro Estudio San Salvador, Alicia began her career in 1996 at the Universidad El Salvador. From there she elaborated in performance studies learning dance, acrobacy, and clowning with the renowned Latin American organization Payasos sin Fronteras. She gained national fame with the surrealist theatre work, 400 Ojos de Agua, as Xoxchil, directed by René Lobo. Her most publicized performances have been for director Fernando Umaña as Hortensia in the comedia dell'arte piece La Mirandolina, and Antígona in Tebas, Memoria del Silencio, an adaptation of Antigone by Sophocles.

MARINA ELIZABETH MUÑOZ- LA LLORONA

Munoz

Actress, and producer of original works, Guatemala's "First Lady of Theatre" has starred in more than 60 different plays outside of her own production company, Arte Escena 3. She received degrees in theatre arts from Academia de Arte Dramatico de la Universidad Popular, Centro Cultural Metropolitano, and Teatro de Arte Universitario. She holds a specialization degree in theatre education from Universidad Mariano Galves, and certification as a radio announcer from Radio Difusión Nacional. Among her numerous graces of the stage, her most famous performances were in El Señor Presidente, Mi'jo el Bachiller, and De Lo Vivo A Lo Pintado. She is a cofounder of Teatro Estudio Los Quatro, and TEATREN. Ms. Muñoz served as the secretary of ANAYT, the national association of actors and technicians. With Arte Escena 3, she currently produces new works seasonally, in Mexico and Guatemala.

JULIO DIAZ ESCAMILLA- INQUISIDOR

Escamilla

With over 50 written theatre works, 9 books of poetry, 2 books of short stories, and 4 novels, the playwright and actor (born in San Salvador 1957) is a two time winner of the Premio Hispanoamericano en Dramaturgia for the works: Un Continente para Llorar and El Inquilino. He is the recipient of the Central American Theatre Award for Geranios en Botón, and took third place in an international poetry award organized by the Ministry of Foreign Relations of El Salvador for the the book Patria en Tres Suspiros. En Guatemala, Escamila is winner of the presidential medal for the creation of TEATRÉN, a theatre built inside of an abandoned train station with concurrent works performed for its establishment. Mr. Escamilla was elected Artist of the Year in 2003 by the institutions Alejandro Von Humboldt and Dante Alighieri. Upon arrival in Argentina, he received the commemorative medal from the acclaimed Argentian writer's group, Argentores.

ERICA SICAY TOC- IXCHEL

A singer and dancer of San Juan la Laguna, Guatemala, Erica has worked with various touring musical troupes performing traditional and contemporary music, most notable Sonora Juanera. A member of the indigenous Maya Tzutujil community of Sololá, Erica has long been the star performer in town festivals and radio shows and has notoriety for her singing and speaking voice.
